And So It Begins...

Forget about the huge phenomenon of a guessing game we like to refer to as March Madness. Thursday marked the start of another NCAA Championship tournament. It’s the type of tournament that takes a bit more knowledge to put together a bracket worth betting on.

National Championship weekend for collegiate wrestling has officially begun. Penn State sent seven wrestlers off to the colorful collage of wrestling mats lining the floor of the national stage in St. Louis, Missouri.

Back in State College, a look around a lecture hall at 12 p.m. and dozens of laptops were live streaming college basketball games as if their lives depended on it. The few true wrestling fans cluttered their screens with different windows displaying separate streams of the eight wrestling mats in Missouri.

The first round started at 12 p.m. and thanks to ESPN and live streaming fans didn’t miss a match.

Here’s a little recap of session one, which was a strong start for the Nittany Lions.
