Men’s Basketball Pass Drexel for 63-57 Win

Penn State men’s basketball headed to the City of Brotherly love for a non-conference match-up between the Drexel Dragons at the historic Palestra gymnasium on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania Saturday night. While the Lions trailed the Dragons for much of the match, Penn State rallied in the second half to win by a six-point margin.

Sophomore Peyton Banks led the scoring for the Lions, tallying a career-high 20 points including his five-for-five effort on the free-throw line. Brandon Taylor and Shep Garner contributed to the score-line with 11 points each while freshman Josh Reaves led the team in rebounds with seven.

Drexel dominated the game in the first half, opening the game with a 9-0 lead and continued to control the first half, going into halftime with a score of 34 to 27. The Nittany Lions failed to lead the game until the final five minutes, which saw a 15-3 Penn State run. Peyton Banks was the hero of the night, scoring the final six points of the match and securing the Nittany Lion victory.

Following the game, Banks praised Drexel for their efforts. “Drexel's a great team…I feel like we came out and took them for granted. I don't think we should ever do that again.''

The Nittany Lions are now headed to west to the Las Vegas Classic where they will face Colorado on Tuesday night at 10:30pm ET/7:30pm PT in Orleans Arena. Those interested in listening to the game can tune into the Penn State Sports Network.
