Penn State Secured Big Ten Regular Season Champs Title

The Nittany Lions topped off the regular season in typical bonus-point fashion with one major, two techs, and two pins in their lopsided victory over Clarion, 40-6. RBY bid his final farewell to Rec Hall with one of the two pins on the day. Max Dean also finished his Penn State regular season career with a decision win.

Gary Steen set the stage with an opening victory at 125 over Clarion’s Joey Fischer. He was followed by a slew of those bonus point wins then Donovan Ball stepped in at 184 and got caught by Clarion’s No. 21 Will Feldkamp. The Golden Eagle had the quickest fall of the day over Ball in just one minute and twenty seconds.

Penn State closes out yet another season with a perfect record, 16-0. As mentioned last week, the team was already named Big Ten Regular Season Champions. Although the Nittany Lions are favored, year after year we are reminded that anything can happen at the Big Ten Championships. No. 2 Iowa and No. 3 Michigan only have one loss on the season, both lost to Penn State. With seedings and brackets yet to be announced, the road to victory isn’t always clear cut and the Nittany Lions will have to capitalize with bonus points where they can.

This year, the University of Michigan hosts the conference tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday and Sunday, March 4-5. It has also been confirmed that the famous “quad box” will make its return during coverage, but no one is as excited about it as Shane Sparks.
